You'll Shoot Your Eye Out

My all time favorite Christmas movie ever! A Christmas Story!

Back home TNT played this movie 12 times in a row starting on Christmas Eve, and my brother and I would watch this all day long, catching certain glimpses of that parts we loved. We now can recite the entire movie frontwards and backwards. My dad still calls me randomly quoting this movie!

Santa: What do you want for Christmas little boy......
Ralphie: I want an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle! Santa: You'll shoot your eye out kid!

I double dare ya....... I double dog dare ya......I triple dog dare ya.
Poor Flick

A box arrives, they load it inside and Darren McGavin tries to read something on the box
reading "F-R-A-G-E-E-L-E. Hmmm That Must be Italian" His wife says... "I think that says fragile." Too funny.

He then places the lamp in the center of the front room window so everyone in the entire neighborhood could see! His wife was utterly embarrassed.

This movie was one of the many things that made Christmas more fun!

Wow, it’s already Christmas Eve. I have been looking forward to Christmas, but I'm telling you, I am getting a little of the “Christmas time blues.” I really am missing my family a lot during this time of year. I was so lucky to get to see my mom and step dad after Thanksgiving; it was such a treat to spend time with them. I am so thankful they were able to spend two weeks with us. My mom made an awesome Christmas dinner and brought Jon and me Christmas gifts. She got me a new digital camera, as mine had just broken before they came. She also bought Jon and me some light fixtures so that we could see in our home! And we just sent her a link for a chandelier she is getting us for another Christmas present. Thanks Mom, we love you!

I really miss my dad! I haven't seen him since August 2, and I never realized how hard it would be to be away. I do speak with him on a daily basis, but not seeing him on Christmas will be the first in 25 years. Every Christmas Eve my brother and I would go over to his house for a nice dinner, and we’d open tons of Christmas presents. We’d watch “A Christmas Story” over and over again 12 times in a row! Jon and I did just receive a package from my dad and step mom for Christmas. I asked for a pajama set and some house slippers and that is what I got! They are so comfy and I absolutely love them. Jon got a really good book that he has already started reading, and they sent him some Guitar Hero boxers. (Which he was super excited about.) Now he can really rock out Guitar Hero style. They also sent us some DVD’s because they know what huge collectors we are. Thanks Dad and Janie for all of the great stuff.

My brother, my best friend, I miss the most. He and I have always been so close, through my parents’ divorce and family issues, and we've always stuck together. I miss watching movies with him and eating lots and lots of candy. I miss quoting movies with him and acting a fool in public. I miss our inside jokes and constant sarcasm, that everyone loves so much (not)! I miss having him around.

Family is so important, you don’t realize how much, until you are living in another country! We used to see Jon's family once a week, and we miss them dearly. Jon's dad is such a wonderful man and always brings a smile to my face. Jon's mom is amazing, she's a hard working woman who loves her children and would do anything for them. She completely welcomed me with open arms into their family. Jon's sisters are silly and goofy like me! Jon’s little sister turns 16 this month and will be driving. We are so sad to have to miss her birthday, but I told her when visit next year, she can be our chauffeur and hall us around everywhere.

I wish we could spend the holidays at home, but I know there will be many more Christmases with our families in the years to come.
Although I am having a hard time this Christmas and I am a little down this year, being in Germany is a great opportunity for us and this will be an experience we will never forget. We truly are lucky, and God has blessed us in so many ways!
I am just happy to have Jon in my life; he is my rock and my best friend. Christmas with him is more special to me than anything. I know we'll have a great time together because no matter what we are doing, we always have a blast!

Merry Christmas, I love you Jon!
I hope everyone has a fun filled and blessed holiday season!

I know how you feel. Fiance has to work this week so we couldn't go home for Christmas.
How come you two are in Germany?

I was just telling my family that I've NEVER seen the entire movie "A Christmas Story!" Danny said, "You're kidding!" I've seen bits and pieces.
I am going to this year for sure.
I was just telling Dan that and he said Kristen wants to watch it with me. He's seen it way too many times and he said he'd go to the bedroom. ;)

I can understand how you'd feel blue not being with family at Christmas. I'm almost 49 yrs. old and have never not been with my family.

You and Jon are so blessed though to have these special memories. You'll never forget your first Christmas together.

I'm thinking about you!
Merry Christmas!!!

Love,
Val
