Our Weekly Weekend Update

Being back to Germany, in our home, is such an amazing feeling! I missed this place so much, not to mention our UBER comfortable bed! Hotel beds aren't always the most comfortable things to sleep on ;) This weekend went by in a flash, as they always seem to.

Saturday Jon and I got up early and got all of our errands (grocery shopping, a new hairdryer for the salon, px, etc) out of the way so that we could enjoy the rest of the day, relaxing. We stopped by the movie rental place and grabbed three movies, knowing very well we'd get through all three this weekend since our plans were to be LAZY!

I am a scary movie junky, my husband is NOT. He does not like scary movies, but I think due to being married to me, he is slowly opening up to them. I had seen previews of Uninvited and thought it might be interesting to see, because I love Elizabeth Banks.

I guessed what was going to happen about 10 minutes into the movie, told Jon what I thought was going to happen, and sure enough I was right on the button. It was a pretty good movie, I didn't think it was scary, (maybe because scary movies are so cliche these days) but there are some suspenseful scenes.

Saturday night we had Sarah and Deaner over for Mexican Fiesta night! I made stacked enchiladas, guacamole, salsa and we ate until we couldn't move. It was awesome! While we were in Qatar, Sarah and Deaner helped watch over our place. I was so very thankful for this, because Sarah kept all of my plants alive and now my lettuce is thriving!

Check this out!
It is so sooo yummy too! Jon and I made wraps for lunch this weekend and put our fresh lettuce in the wraps. Jon is too funny when he saw how much our lettuce had grown, he said "Wow, we're kind of like farmers now."

Thanks again Sarah for looking after our place! We owe you big time! We are so blessed to have met these guys!

Sunday morning we decided to take a really long walk in the park, since we both ate our weight in Mexican food the night before! We ended up walking over 6 miles but it was a much needed walk. Then of course we came back to the house and continued our lazy weekend with two more movies that I would highly recommend. If you've been reading for a long time you all now how much I LOVE to watch movies and how I love to share the good ones.... so here they are.

First:
Benjamin Button
I really liked this movie, I thought it was excellent. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett both did an incredible job of acting as always. This was such a sad story and I have to admit I did cry a little.

Second:
The Reader
Also another incredible acting job by all three characters.
The young boy in the movie was outstanding.
Another sad story, but totally worth the tears.

Today I've got to get on the ball to get our laundry done! My brother will be here in THREE days and I am so excited! But I have a lot to do before he gets here. The guest bedroom looks like a disaster area after a tornado, and I honestly don't know how it even got like that! How does that happen??

How was your weekend???

Hope you all have a happy Monday!

I agree, Benjamin Button was such a fantastic movie!

Isn't it so exciting when plants start growing?! Ryan and I did a lot of yard work this weekend and it seems as if every flower in my garden popped up overnight!

3 movies and Mexican food? Sounds like a perfect weekend to me:)

Good to know that you have enjoyed those movies... I can't watch the sad ones. I will go for the insane comedy ones instead.

But the scary movie part is true - in my case it is the Vampire/Werewolf/magic kind of movies!! I love the Underworld series, Van Helsing, Blade, Harry Potter series, The Craft etc etc... Hubby hated them but he is also opening up to them slowly... YAY for us!!

I can't wait to see both Benjamin Button and The Reader (my husband and I are both movie junkies, too). I'll pass on The Uninvited, though--scary movies, well, SCARE me! Hubby is a HUGE horror movie fanatic, though. I'm pretty sure he's seen that one already, but he's usually kind enough to spare me the details of those flicks.

I still haven't seen Benjamin Button but I want to see it! Yay for your brother coming! That is exciting!

Isn't that scene where Benjamin is a baby and she's holding him in her arms as he takes his last breath just heartbreaking?

I'm new to your blog, but just wanted to say that I got married 06.07.08, too! I loved Benjamin Button and The Reader, both tearjerkers though. Glad you enjoyed them!

And your photos are incredible! :)

You guessed the girl was just psycho in Uninvited? That completely threw me for a loop! Good movie though. I'm all about scary movies. We just watched The Grudge 3 the other night. I didn't even know they made a 3rd one direct to video but it was just as good as the others! Check it out and let me know if you agree!
