Bullets for my Blabbing

Hello lovely friends! How's your week going so far

You wanna know who fell asleep with a bottle of water in her hand and woke up in a pool of Culligan bottle water in the middle of the night last night???? You guessed it, me. My entire back was soaked.... not sure how the water ended up underneath my back when I was laying on my back?? My shirt and the sheets were soaked. AWESOME.

  • This week has been drrrraaaaggging! There really isn't much going on with the Barretts. It's a busy week for softball. Jon had a game Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and he plays again on Friday. Depending on whether they lose or win, will determine when they play on Saturday.
  • I started reading the 5th Sookie Stackhouse book, Dead as a Doornail, yesterday. So far so good........ meaning I can't put the thing down. I love that they are short reads and you can get through the books in a couple of days. They can be a little crazy around the edges, but they really are good books. I look forward to finishing up the series and moving on to a couple other books.
First, I've been wanting to read:
The Time Travelers Wife.
Word of this book has been spreading through the blog
world like wildfire, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Also Dan Brown's new book
The Lost Symbol.

It is coming out in September and I CANNOT wait to read it. (Ya that's right, I'm a Robert Langdon/Dan Brown nerd.)

  • Yesterday I downloaded a simple Italian language program from the internet. It is very basic, but I definitely think it will help for our up coming trip to Italy in September. We've decided on 2 nights in Venice, 4 nights in Florence and the surrounding cities and 2 nights in Rome.
If anyone has any suggestions on what to see/where to stay while we are visiting these places, I'd be forever grateful!

  • Now since I wrote about my junk food weaknesses yesterday, I thought I'd throw our favorite healthy snack.
Edamame
This stuff is sooooo good. We buy like 4 or 5 bags of it every time we go to the grocery store. It's perfect for a snack or as a side with dinner. Jon usually has it before softball games. It is so very healthy and actually tastes great. (Unlike a lot of healthy food.)

We are always looking for new and healthy snack ideas.

What are some of your favorites??

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday! Tomorrow is Friday and I couldn't be happier!

Be sure to enter our Picnic Pack Giveaway. Last chance to enter is tomorrow before noon!

I want to read the Time Travelers Wife too, but I'll probably see the movie before I have a chance to read it... which means, I wont read it. LOL I've heard good things about the Sookie Stackhouse series. I might give em a try one day. I have a long list of books I want to read. I need more time! LOL

Healthy snacks.. I love some Cheddar Cheese Rice Cakes (somewhat healthy..kinda), Red Plums, and Nectarines. Backed chips are good too, but I try to stay away or I'll eat way too many.

I liked the Time Travelers Wife but I have to admit, I was really confused by it. Maybe I am just retarded though. I think the movie will be good. Let's keep our eyes open for it to come to the fancy movie theatre on base! Also, I laughed outloud that you spilled your water in bed like that. Deaner did that once except he fell asleep with a beer and it spilled on ME. Klassy!

again, I agree with you in your healthy-snack selection! Love edamame. yumm. :)

let us know how the books are!

Since we are currently sleeping on an air mattress for the next 2 months, the hubs and I got into a water war and completely soaked each other on the bed....it was neat :)
I've also really enjoyed book 5! I've been listening to the book on tape since the packers accidently packed up the rest of the series for me.

And I definitely need to get the time travelers wife! I want to see the movie so bad, but I do prefer to read the book first!

I hope the rest of your week goes quickly!

I"m so jealous you are going to Italy. So jealous! I love raw okra, cherries, cheese (which is good for me because I have low calcium! haha), plums, cucumbers are probably my favorite food ever...I love veggies...

I LOVE Edamame! I had some Tuesday night with my sushi in fact - It's the best! I like Kashi granola bars - I don't know how "healthy" they really are but they are super yummy. And really any kind of fruit - Peaches are my big kick at the moment!

Your trip in September sounds like it is going to be wonderful... I have NO idea what to tell you to see but no matter what I am sure it will ALL be worth it.

I want to read both of those books as well! And no worries, I am a nerd right along with you!

When you are in Florence go see some of the Tuscan towns. We went to Volterra and LOVED it. I've heard Siena is great too.

I really want to read The Time Traveler's Wife--because I definitely want to see the movie & I like reading books before movies.

I have never had Edamame..will have to check them out!

My mom is a edamame bean freak! Seriously, she is always eating them when I got visit her. And she always asks guests if they want her to make them some-she's so strange. I'll admit they're good, I think I like the salt more than the bean. ;)

I want to read Time-Traveler's Wife, too, but right now I've already got 8 things out from the library, so I'lll have to put it off for a while!

And my "healthy" snacks are guacamole and whole grain chips, and sunflower seeds. Both carry MUFAs, which help your body process fat rather than store it.

I am also looking forward to reading both of those books. I hate to say it but I've looked at The Time Travelers Wife several times and always put it back but the previews for the movie are making me want to read it now!

But it's GREEEEEEN... yuck! I've also never heard of it, lol.

I can't wait to see the movie for Time Traveler's Wife! I'll probably read the book after I see the movie.

I LOVE Rome, so much to see. I will make one non-ancient-ruins suggestion if you at all like sculpture & art; Borghese Gallery.

The terrace restaurant "Terrazza Brunelleschi" on the roof top of the Grand Baglioni hotel is amazing for a romantic dinner, outdoor seating and a 360 deg view of Florence. The hotel is nice too, but there are so many of those to choose from.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi-just popped over from Valerie's blog...your trip will be wonderful...you might want to book a tour for the Sistine Chapel/Vatican online ahead of time. The queues are longer than anything I've seen and we were there in February which is not the big tourist season. I'm not a big tour person but it helped tremendously to go in with a tour group-we skipped the queue. We also did a tour at the Coliseum-you don't need it but again, long queues. Just fyi

Italians love their visitors...I'm jealous. Italy is my favorite! The Amalfi coast is spectacular...I think there are trips out from Rome but you may want to save it for another time. It's a trip in itself.

Ciao : ) Joyce

I loved The Time Traveler's Wife--I'm pretty excited to see the movie, hopefully soon. My all-time favorite book? The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood. Amazing!
