Snow

This morning as I was walking through the hall to turn all of the lights on, I glanced out the window and saw that it was snowing! I grabbed my camera, went outside on the balcony and shot these pictures.

I threw on my wellies and a coat and went walking outside. I love the snow it is beautiful and so peaceful to watch. Kind of like the rain.

My street

I witnessed a fender bender this morning with a taxi and another small vehicle. The taxi just bumped right into the other vehicle. No one was hurt it was a very very small wreck. I just walked outside at the exact moment it happened. I'm so glad it was small and that no one was injured.

I love the snow, I think it is beautiful! Although not fun to drive on! It's really coming down, but they say that snow doesn't stick for very long in the middle of this town. Which is wonderful for all of the drivers on the roads. It seems to be slick though.

In OK we would have snow but it wasn't pretty snow it was more like freezing rain and ice snow. Then we'd be without lights for days! I like the snow here much better!
My best friend's mother, now my very wonderful friend Valerie, posted a blog a while back about the ice/snow storm we had last year. I have pictures from that storm as well....

I noticed the backyard first thing. I thought it looked incredible with all of the icicles.

and the hammock lol!

and then I noticed the tree!! Eeeek.

Jon's thinking... "wow this is going to be a lot to clean up." It actually wasn't too bad at all. We got out there with a saw and went to town. (of course when the ice was completely gone) Luckily Bradford pear trees are a really soft wood because having a hand saw and not an electric was definitely an exciting time.

Our entire street looked like this, and most of Oklahoma! It was a crazy year for ice storms. Some people were without electricity for over a week. My parents were without electricity for 7 days I believe. We were without for a day, and Jon's sister was without for one night. Hotels were booked during that time, they must have made a killing. Jon and I just lit about 50 candles and played domino's all day. We were very thankful it wasn't worse.

Our tree made it through the ice storm. It's one tough little tree, now it is just a half of a tree. But it's still so pretty. I hope everyone is staying warm. I know in OK it is going to be cold today.

"Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today." (Groundhog Day)

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

P.S. Why are wellies so hard to get off. I think I pulled a muscle in my arm trying to pry those things off. ;)

Oh my goodness...that awning with the icicles hanging from it looks like some sort of torture device!! Seriously, if you were laying under there and they all fell I think it could kill you! yikes :)

You're right...the snow is beautiful there! I love a good snow. Ice, NO!!!

I'll never forget that bad ice storm. Our Bradford pear trees survived too, but my parent's tree had to be cut down completely. We had no electricity for a week.

That is not something I'd like to experience again.

Well, enjoy the snow and stay warm!
