Turn Me Over, I'm Done

Let me just start by saying.... I'm fried! It's what I get, completely self inflicted, completely MY fault, but I am still feeling sorry for myself ;) I'll explain how I got so burnt in a moment....

First:

Sunday night Damon, Caroline, (two co-workers of Jon), Jon and myself headed out for dinner in the city. Jon and Damon had this perfect place in mind for local cuisine, but when we arrived it had been closed for repair. Bummer! We walked around for a while and finally found a place that looked appealing. It was actually very good food. I ordered the chicken, because come on let's face it, chicken is the easiest thing to order when you aren't sure about anything else on the menu. We also order what we thought was 1 order of hummus, but surprisingly got 5 different types. They were all really good and I actually ended up eating my weight in hummus and pita bread. YUM! Dinner was great and so cheap, it was 28 dollars for the 4 of us.

These are some pictures from the restaurant.
Inside the restaurant.
Aquafina bottle in Arabic.
Myself, Jon, Caroline and DamonBeing a hairstylist, I found these billboards both incredibly awesome and comical.
The 80's called, they want their billboards back.

After dinner we made our way back to the hotel. I think we were all still exhausted from traveling.

Monday I ventured to the gym, worked out for a good hour and then headed straight to the pool. No one was there so I got a prime chair right by the pool and in direct view of the sun!

Eventually I met four British men that were working on getting their visas so they could live and work in Qatar. They were in the oil business. It was so fun chatting with them and trying to talk to them in a British accent. They bought me a couple of beers (probably feeling sorry for me since I was trying really hard, but failed at sounding like an English person,) and we had a good ole' time. About 5 hours later...... I knew it was definitely way past the time for me to head in and out of the sun. I mean I'm white as snow and should have known that the sun and I have never been good friends. (Meaning, every time I am in the sun for longer than thirty minutes I fry!)

I went back to the room, extremely dehydrated from the sun and from working out in the morning, my knees were burnt, my calves were also a little on the well done side and I had a wicked headache! Again, the sun and I ARE NOT friends. You might actually say that she hates me!

I took two Advil thinking that might kill the pain and crashed out for a little while. When I woke up I couldn't bend my knees, the back of my legs were so burnt. Well that's exactly what I get for not reapplying my sunscreen as often as I should have. I should know better, but I am like a little kid, I'll never learn.

Of course the next day is always worse so I am in a bit of pain today. I guess my plan of laying out everyday will definitely have to be put on hold until I heal! Way to go Steph.
There's not much excitement going on today. I look forward to Jon getting home so he can rub aloe on my back! Yippie!

Word to the wise, please wear sunscreen and reapply regularly. Don't learn the hard way like me.

Tonight the plans for dinner are still up in the air. When you have indecisive people trying to figure out what to do for dinner it can take a while. I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Now I am off to bathe myself in aloe.

I love reading about your adventures! Soooo sorry to hear about the horrible sunburn! :( I think sunburn is the WORST feeling in the world! I hope you feel better soon, and you're right, it's a great excuse for your hubby to rub you down with aloe...that's a perk ;) lol.

I love all the pictures and love hearing about your daily experiences.
Wow....$28 for all of you guys to eat dinner. That's great.

Steph, I'm so sorry about your sunburn. I've been there and know exactly how you feel. The year my little sister graduated from high school we went to Hawaii. It was the end of May and I hadn't tanned at all. We went out for an afternoon & I swear I was so burned. My swimsuit tied around my back and my sunburn was in the perfect shape of how that was tied. I was miserable...to say the least.

I hope you're better today!

Hummus...yummmmmmm!!!!

Oh Steph! It sounds like you are in some serious pain:( I have done that to myself more often that I'd like to admit (like on my honeymoon!) and it's no fun.

Lots of advil, lots of water and lots of sunscreen!

Hope you feel less like a piece of grilled meat and more like yourself soon:)

I don't believe I've ever tried hummus...Isn't that like a mexican dish or somthing? Not sure:p Loved the photos of the signs and totally laughed about your 80's comment:p I feel your pain over being sun burnt! I made that very horrible mistake when I was 15 and came away with 3rd degree burns, yes you read right...It was soooo painful, I even scared...Ahhhhh! Needless to say, I am super careful now! However, living in Georgia where it is ten times hotter then Tennessee I have to be EXTRA careful....I'm kind of scared to lay out here:p Myabe I should make use of the tanning beds in the clubhouse where we live:) Get some good rest girl and I hope the burn heals quickly! Ouch...

Guess I'm lucky. I get nice and golden in the sun, it takes a lot for me to burn. Yes, I'm rubbing it in a little.

Thanks for following my blog! I'm glad to have ya!

Oh my gosh, I could totally live on hummus! My favorite is roasted garlic.

I'm so sorry you got so burnt! That is so miserable! I hope it fades away soon...keep that aloe on it! Growing up my grandma always said that putting men's after shave on a sunburn would take the burn out. I always do it, and I think it really works for me. If you can find some of that (which I realize may be difficult!) you should try it!

The pictures are awesome! I'm very jealous of your adventure!

Aloe with lidocaine (if you can find any) is a life saver when burnt like that! Please be careful and wear sunscreen, though! (Says the fair redhead who forgets a lot)
